While the āJanuary Jumpā usually cools off by February, new 2026 data shows that job seeker activity in Canada has remained at record highs through mid-March. Applications are currently 10% higher than late 2025 levels, but here is the twist: interest is shifting away from retail and customer service toward Administrative Assistance and Management roles. With more people competing for office-based and remote admin roles, the āsoft but stableā market means you need to apply within the first 48 hours of a posting to stay in the top of the pile.

TLDR: Degrees are taking a backseat to "AI Fluency." If you can show a recruiter exactly how you use AI tools to work faster and smarter, you are 3 times more likely to land the role than someone with just a traditional background.
