Can't believe I turned 30🎂
30 roles for you to celebrate my big 3-0
Besties,
I can’t believe I am THIRTY! That means I have been writing this newsletter and creating content since I was 27. A whole 3 years. Some of you have been here since the very beginning and watched me and this newsletter evolve, grow, change platforms, and yet still here supporting me.
Not gonna lie, i woke up in severe body ache and back pain, maybe it’s the effects of being a mom of 2 or maybe its the consequences of partying for 2 days straight with friends and family, and the former of which consummated with walking 21,211 steps or 12 KM.
As I reflect on this past decade, I want to share some of the lessons that I have learned:
You can’t change somebody. You can only change how you respond and interact with them.
Don’t take somebody’s word as insurance. The best insurance is always properly documented, recorded, date-stamped.
Everything in moderation because balance doesn’t exist.
If you are interested in 1:1 office hours with me, you can book here.
🚨 If you apply to any job you found through WFH Mama Mail, add this to the ‘How did you hear about this role?’ field on your application: WFH Mama Mail Newsletter — it helps me track which listings are landing and keeps me motivated to find even better opportunities for you! 🍁
📰AI Has Broken Hiring. Here's How to Fix It
TLDR: AI is now on both sides of the hiring process — candidates using it to blast out applications, recruiters using it to screen them — and honestly, it’s made the whole system messier, not better. The authors dig into why generic resume screens and canned interview questions can’t tell who’s actually competent anymore, since AI can fake polish on both ends.
Their fix: build assessments that test real judgment and hands-on skill instead of how well someone can talk their way through a room. If your applications have been vanishing into a void lately, this isn’t just you — it’s the system. Worth a read before your next round of applications so you know exactly what you’re up against.
📰Use the '10/10' rule to land a job: It's like tapping into 'the hidden job market,' says career coach
TLDR: This one’s a favorite of mine because it’s networking without the cringe. The “10/10 rule”: pick 10 companies you actually want to work for, find 10 people there doing the job you want next, and start real conversations with them — not a cold “can I pick your brain,” actual engagement over time.
The goal is tapping into the hidden job market, the roles that get filled before they’re ever posted publicly. If you’ve only been mass-applying online, add this to your rotation this week. It works because it’s slower and more human than a job board — which is exactly why most people skip it.
